Wednesday Words: NaNoReMo?

So, I joked about doing "NaNoReadMo" a couple of posts back, but at this point, I realize it might be a good idea!

If you remember April for me, my Pastor died at the beginning of the month, and I was hired for a new job at the end of the month. Since then, my reading has gone kaput, and I was nowhere near reaching my original Goodreads goal for the month. I cut it down, given the circumstances, but I could still do better.

Most on the writing blogosphere already know November is National Novel Writing Month (that's right, right?), the time most writers set a goal of writing 1,000 words a day to have a 30,000-word manuscript done at the end of the month. This has been shortened to the adorable NaNoWriMo.

So using that same model, I would like to try to reach my reading goal by the end of November, or at least have a buffer that I can breeze through in December. So for me, November will be National Novel Reading Month, NaNoReMo! If I can read a book a week, I'll be happy. It's going to take some hard work!

What about you? Participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Would you like to join me in NaNoReMo? I want to know!

I'm really behind on reading, too, so I love the idea of NaNoReMo. November's probably not the best month for me to catch up on my TBR pile, though, since that's going to be a busy month for me, art-wise. Still, I'm more than happy to cheer you on! Hope reading a book a week ends up being easier than expected...

Making it a reading goal instead - brilliant! Go for it. I'll be reading at least half that with IWSG contest entries next month.

When I participated there wasn't a daily word goal. That sounds easier than just telling people to tackle a 100,000-word novel in a month! I always wrote 50,000 word novels or less, so it wasn't as hard for me, but I did think it was unfair to those writing bigger novels that they might not meet their goal in 30 days.

That's an awesome idea! Maybe I should take part in NaNoReMo too. :) I have a goal of 24 books by the end of the year, and I'm only at 17. I could really use some encourage to push through the last few books, especially during the hectic holiday season. (Original goal was 2 books a month which I've failed at.) I love the idea of tackling the reading by word count instead of pages, chapters, or book count. Of course, who knows how you determine how many words are in a book? I may have to go with page count instead… Anyway, thanks for the inspiration! Hope you are able to reach your reading goal! :)
